1. When and where are the Games played?
Please see the tournament information link for more information about when the games are scheduled.

2. How many games do we play?
The first and final rounds are won by best-of-three games and middle rounds are single elimination. Each game will last up to ten minutes. So depending on your dodgeball skill, you could play three games or if you go all the way to the last round, you could play up to 9 games.

3. What are the rules of the tournament?
The rules for the Tournament are similar to those you remember from gym class with a few tweaks. For official rules, click on the tournament rules link.

4. What are 'extra lives' and how do I earn them?
Extra lives are a bonus for teams that do extra fundraising and awareness building. To signify the lives we are saving with this competition, each team will be able to acquire immunity or a second 'life' for players to return to the game, if they are eliminated.

There are two ways in which a team can acquire extra lives for the competition:
  • For every extra $100 a team raises for the Pnock Out Pneumonia Tournament, they will be granted an extra life
  • Every 100 signatures a team gets on their petition will grant them an extra life for the Pnock Out Pneumonia Tournament
5. How can I join a team?
Visit the register to play link. From there, you can find a specific team and teams that are open to new players.

6. Do I have to join a team or can I play as an individual?
Everyone competing in the Pnock out Pneumonia tournament must be part of a team. If there is no team available for you to join, you can start your own. Otherwise, register as an individual and we will place you on a team.

7. I don't know anyone organizing a team. Can I just join any team?
You can join any team that is currently open. Open teams will have:
  • A 'seeking new players' icon by their name.
  • Names that end in 'open registration'.Teams whose names end in 'limited registration' are by captain's invitation only
If there are no open teams in your area, get together with 7 friends (or classmates, or acquaintances) and start your own team.

8. How many people play on team?
The maximum number of players on a team is 8.

9. Do I have to pay at the time I register?
All players will be required to submit a credit card number to pay the $10 registration fee at the time of registration. Payment can be made by check, but will have a processing delay. Registration on the day of the event (space permitting) is $15.

10. What information do you take from me when I register?
When you register, you will be required to register to play for a specific team. We will also need your
  • Name
  • School (if applicable)
  • Graduation year (if applicable)
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Mailing Address
  • Credit Card number (to charge the $10 registration fee)
  • Billing Address
11. How much is registration?
Registration to play in the Pnock Out Pneumonia games is $10 per player. Each player is encouraged to keep fundraising after they have registered - and to continue to raise awareness and funds for the fight against pneumonia.

12. How do I fundraise?
As you register to play on your team, you will receive a link to a personal fundraising page. This link can be sent out to friends, family, and anyone else who wants to help you in the fight against pneumonia. Best Shot Foundation will also provide you with a fundraising letter for those friends and family who are not technologically savvy. This will explain what you are doing and why, and ask for a donation to support your team. There will be space for you to include a personal note as well.

13. Who should I fundraise from?

Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, friends of neighbors, neighbors of friends -- everybody! We will provide you with both an email template to send out to potential donors and a mailing that you can write your own message on for those who are less technologically inclined.

Be creative in who you ask to support you. Remember to have a short, succinct speech explaining why you are playing in the games and mention the children that it would only take $20 to protect.

Remember -- If you don't approach someone, you have zero chance of getting support.

14. Where does the money raised go?
Money raised by Pnock Out Pneumonia participants will help provide children in developing countries with the health services they need to survive this hidden killer. Funds will also support the Best Shot Foundation?s grassroots awareness projects.

15. Why pneumonia?
Pneumonia is the number one killer of children under the age of five worldwide. Every 15 seconds a child dies from pneumonia and two million children under the age of 5 die from pneumonia each year. Pneumonia is really easy to prevent and to cure, and we are committed to raising money and political will to fight the effect of this devastating disease.

16. How can I make a donation?
Donations can be made online or by check. To sponsor a player in the tournament, visit the Sponsor a Participant Page. To make a general donation to the Best Shot Foundation, visit the Make a General Donation page.
