About the Best Shot Foundation

Can dodgeball save lives? We think so.

This fall, the Best Shot Foundation will organize the inaugural Pnock Out Pneumonia dodgeball tournament on college campuses across the country to raise awareness and funds for the fight against pneumonia. Each team will compete for the Pnock Out Pneumonia championship in their region. But more importantly, the money raised will bring critical prevention and treatment services to those children most in need.

The Best Shot Foundation focuses global awareness and political engagement on childhood pneumonia. Our mission and our work are motivated by the belief that increased public commitment will drive increased health resource allocation. The following four facts guide our efforts:

  1. It’s inexcusable for even a single child to die needlessly.
  2. Pneumonia is huge – it kills more kids around the world than any other disease (according to UNICEF, pneumonia is deadlier than malaria, measles, and HIV/AIDS combined).
  3. Practical solutions such as inexpensive vaccines and antibiotics would save half of these young lives.
  4. You can do something simple and effective to help save these children right now.

Pnock Out Pneumonia is part of a global movement to bring greater attention to this deadly disease. This November 2nd, pneumonia advocates around the world will come together to commemorate the first-ever World Pneumonia Day.
